Mary-Louise Parker

Mary-Louise Parker (born August 2 1964) is an American actress. Following her Broadway debut as Rita in Craig Lucas's Prelude to a Kiss in 1990 (for which she received a Tony Award nomination), Parker came to prominence for roles in films such as Grand Canyon (1991), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), The Client (1994), Bullets over Broadway (1994), A Place for Annie (1994), Boys on the Side (1995), The Portrait of a Lady (1996), and The Maker (1997). Parker received a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Actress In the same Play in 2001, for her performance in the role of Catherine Llewellyn, in David Auburn's Proof. She starred as Amy Gardner on NBC's television series The West Wing from 2001 until 2006. For this role, she received a nomination in 2002 for the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She was awarded the Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award for her portrayal of Harper Pitt in the acclaimed HBO mini-series on television Angels in America in 2003.Parker continued to have huge successes as Nancy Botwin, the lead character in the television series Weeds, which was on from 2005 until 2012 and for which she was awarded three nominations for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in the field of Comedy Series between 2007 and 2009 and received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for a Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2006.Her later film appearances include parts in The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008), Red (2010), R.I.P.D. (2013) and Red 2 (2013). Parker returned to Broadway to play the lead role in The Sound Inside in 2019 in which she was awarded her second Tony Award as Best Actress in a Play. Parker is a regular contributor to Esquire magazine since 2007 before launching Dear Mr. You in 2015. In 2017, she starred in the role of Roma Guy on the ABC miniseries for television, When We Rise. She worked as a consultant to the political arena on the Showtime show Billions in the year 2018.
